Overview
In this role you will optimize Arm’s database platform to deliver top-tier performance across backend data structures and frontend access. You will work within the Infrastructure Engineering and Applications team to harmonize multi-supplier database management, collaborating with infrastructure and engineering to meet Arm’s strategic goals. You will lead performance-focused initiatives, lifecycle management, and cross-team coordination to provide a robust, scalable data backbone. This role offers meaningful impact through improving data flows and hardware/software resource alignment in Arm-based infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with database partners to install, configure, and update DBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
- Implement access controls and security measures for sensitive data
- Oversee diverse environments including servers, storage, and networking in coordination with relevant teams
- Understand architectures and optimize both virtual and physical server resources
- Automate manual processes and optimize software license costs
- Coordinate with vendors and Arm Engineering groups for performance optimization and lifecycle management
- Promote an Arm-on-Arm approach to use Arm-based infrastructure where possible
- Forecast storage needs and plan hardware/software upgrades
- Partner with engineering infrastructure providers to align roadmaps with database needs
- Provide technical support to developers for operations optimization and issue resolution
- Collaborate with other infrastructure teams to ensure seamless DB integration with systems and applications
- Serve as SME translating engineering requirements into robust infrastructure solutions
Key requirements
- Strong proficiency in SQL and familiarity with commercial, open source and cloud DB systems
- Solid understanding of server hardware, enterprise storage, and networking fundamentals
- Ability to understand multifaceted engineering concepts
- Experience with task prioritisation and project timelines
- Understanding of optimization techniques across the stack and monitoring tooling (Dynatrace)
