Overview
In this Procurement Manager role, you will provide strategic procurement leadership and expert commercial advice across the Trust. You will drive value for money through category strategies, tendering, and contract governance while engaging senior stakeholders to improve service performance. Based at the Alexandra Hospital, you will support procurement across multiple sites and contribute to continuous improvement of procurement services. This is an opportunity to shape sourcing, deliver savings, and influence patient-focused care.

Responsibilities
- Support Head of Procurement in governing non-pay spend
- Maintain a detailed view of Trust spend using Oracle, Atamis, Spend Comparison Websites and supplier data
- Engage with senior stakeholders to identify improvements from supply market opportunities
- Develop and implement robust category strategies
- Lead on category management within one or more categories
- Develop and implementTender activity with Divisional leads
- Lead, manage, evaluate and report product trials
- Assist with developing requirements specifications and evaluation criteria
- Produce project plans for procurements with milestones and risk mitigation
- Ensure timely progress reporting and savings delivery to PMO
- Identify CIP initiatives from spend and supplier analysis
- Monitor contract governance and compliance; improve performance to support CIP
- Stay updated on DoH directives and procurement initiatives
- Assist with formal tenders and use e-tendering systems and contracts finder portals
- Collaborate with NHS Supply Chain, Crown Commercial Services and collaborate procurement bodies
- Deputise for Head of Procurement or Senior Category/Procurement Manager
- Handle complaints and provide resolutions through negotiation and empathy
- Provide advice on Terms and Conditions and procurement law before, during and after awards
- Communicate clearly to diverse audiences and present findings
- Respond to clinical staff/provider enquiries with empathy and judgement
- Advise customers on legal/financial changes within EU Public Contracts Regulations
- Liaise with other procurement specialists to disseminate procurement plan information
- Support implementation of departmental policies, procedures and strategies
- Deliver strategic objectives within the Trust’s Procurement Strategy
- Research and advise on new products and standardisation programs
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to translate needs into commercial agreements
- Represent the Trust at national and regional events
Key requirements
- Professional procurement qualification or senior procurement management experience
- Demonstrated category management experience in a large organisation
- Ability to develop category strategy and lead teams
- Experience with high-value procurements from conception to implementation
- Strong data analysis and communication skills for diverse audiences
- Knowledge of supply chain management, contract processes and contract law
- Understanding healthcare customer requirements and inventory management
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
