Overview
In this role you will lead the design and integration of electrical systems for advanced maritime products, supporting sonar, submarine, and autonomous technologies. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to define architectures, ensure safety and EMC compliance, and drive tests and commissioning. You’ll mentor junior engineers and collaborate with suppliers to deliver robust solutions for defence and autonomous systems. This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of cutting-edge maritime engineering with a strong impact on safety and performance.

Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime products
- Define architectures, select components, ensure safety and EMC compliance
- Produce and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable assemblies
- Support integration, testing, and commissioning activities
- Conduct design reviews and maintain documentation accuracy
- Coach and mentor junior engineers to grow team capability
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and multidisciplinary teams
Key requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Strong knowledge of electrical system design including power distribution and control systems
- Experience with CAD tools and CE/UKCA directives
- Familiarity with EMC, electrical safety, and industry standards
- System-level integration and debugging experience
- PLCs, motor control, or automation knowledge (desirable)
