Overview

In this role you will drive demand-weighted availability and forecasting performance for both Retail and E‑Commerce. You’ll balance BU and channel priorities, partner with cross‑functional teams, and use data to uncover opportunities that improve stock placement, forecast accuracy, and inventory turns. You will shape end‑to‑end supply chain decisions and lead continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands‑on, data‑driven role at the heart of Marks & Spencer’s retail and logistics strategy, offering impact across store openings, renewals, and day‑to‑day stock availability.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize forecasting and inventory performance focusing on forecast accuracy, stock placement, DWA, costs, and inventory turns through continuous improvement
  • Monitor store performance against peers to identify trade opportunities
  • Coordinate backstage stock control with stores, operations, and space teams to minimise impact and maximise availability
  • Investigate sales and stock flow queries, perform root cause analysis, and drive consensus on actions to reduce unproductive backstage stock
  • Manage actions within the critical path for Supply Chain & Logistics in new store openings and renewal stores, aligning BU priorities to optimise availability

Key requirements

  • Number-oriented analyst with strong mathematical and commercial mindset
  • Proficiency with data extraction, structuring, and analysis tools (Data Bricks, Hadoop, Beam, SQL, Python, XLS, PPT)
  • Experience collating and interpreting data from multiple sources and applying Continuous Improvement frameworks
  • Knowledge of statistical forecasting systems and techniques for strategic/tactical outcomes
  • Understanding of inventory planning methodologies, sales forecasting, and supply chain processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with partners across Retail, E‑Commerce, and Operations
