Overview

In this Senior Design Engineer role, you lead detailed structural design and checks for temporary and permanent works in civil projects, providing technical support across design and operations. You will work within the Civil/Structural Engineering division for a tier 1 contractor, shaping safe, compliant, and cost-effective structures. The position emphasizes hands-on design, analysis, and mentoring of team members in a collaborative environment. You will engage with cross-functional teams to deliver robust engineering solutions that meet project goals and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform detailed structural design and checking for temporary and permanent works
• Provide technical design support and collaborate with operations
• Oversee team members and develop structural methodologies
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, quality and cost requirements
• Coordinate with project teams and conform to relevant standards

Key requirements

• Experience in structural engineering with detailed design of permanent and temporary works
• Proficiency with frame analysis software, structural design software, and CAD
• Ability to perform hand calculations or using MathCAD
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, BS 5975 and other BS standards
• Experience in a structural engineering office with design calculations and methodology
• Degree, or equivalent, in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Strong understanding of structural principles and construction processes
• Good communication, teamwork, and ability to work independently
