Overview

In this Senior Cyber Engineer role, you will lead and optimize our security technology estate to protect a large, complex tech environment. You’ll work with security leaders, architects and operations to ensure tools are effectively configured and delivering meaningful protection. You will act as a senior technical expert on security projects and help embed them into daily operations, while guiding a small team and collaborating with suppliers. This is an opportunity to influence security engineering at scale and drive measurable improvements in threat detection and response.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop key security technologies for reliable access by Security Operations
  • Collaborate with security architects and ops teams to improve tool configuration and performance
  • Lead activities to strengthen protection and logging across technologies
  • Serve as senior technical SME for security projects and transition to BAU
  • Produce KPI/KRI reporting and present recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Build relationships across technology teams and guide placement and support of tools
  • Lead and direct third-party suppliers to meet timescales and SLAs
  • Coach and develop engineers and support delivery of a small team

Key requirements

  • Five+ years in a similar security engineering role in a large, complex environment
  • Proven experience deploying and configuring a broad range of security technologies
  • Deep technical knowledge across SIEM, DLP, firewalls, cloud security, IDS/IPS, threat intelligence and vulnerability scanning
  • Strong leadership, influence and supplier management with risk-based judgement
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, set direction and make timely decisions
