Data Scientist

Overview

As a Data Scientist at Heathrow, you will build analytical models and data-driven solutions to improve airport operations and inform business decisions. You will apply statistics, machine learning and data analysis to diverse challenges across Customer, Operations, Corporate and Technology. You’ll help ensure models are secure, governed and delivering measurable value, contributing to Heathrow’s sustainability and resilience goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain statistical, machine learning and predictive models addressing business needs
• Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for airport operations
• Assess model performance, data quality and analytical bias; take corrective action when risks arise
• Prepare evidence for data science investment proposals, including expected benefits and success measures
• Collaborate with internal teams and specialist suppliers to deliver solutions within budgets and standards

Key requirements

• Applied experience of statistical modelling, machine learning and data science methods
• Proficiency in Python or R, SQL and relevant cloud-based analytics tools
• Ability to apply data science methods to address business questions with measurable outcomes
• Understanding of data governance, model risk, data protection and security requirements
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical audiences
• Degree or equivalent in a quantitative subject
