Overview

In this role you will lead on-site delivery of United Utilities infrastructure projects in the North West. You’ll coordinate resources and supervise operational teams and supply chain partners to ensure work is safe, on schedule, and within budget. You will report progress to management and the client, and act as a Health & Safety representative to uphold site standards. This position combines hands-on site leadership with client-facing project governance in a utilities context.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational supervisory oversight for the Mains Rehabilitation Non-Core Programme on site.
  • Be site-based, visiting local teams to monitor progress and enforce standards.
  • Organise resources (plant, labour, materials, subcontractors) for cost-effective delivery.
  • Manage compliance with Health and Safety procedures, including weekly checks, inspections, audits, and team development.
  • Produce weekly site reports for management and the client, including progress, planning, and issues.
  • Act as Health & Safety Representative, conducting inspections and investigating incidents as required.

Key requirements

  • Experience in the Utilities sector; Water sector experience is advantageous
  • Competence in deep excavations, civils, drainage, structures and water-based schemes
  • Competence in Street Works and Confined Spaces
  • Health & Safety qualification is an advantage
  • Awareness of costs and programme management
  • Strong team management and communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills; Microsoft Project preferable
  • Full UK Driving Licence
