Job Description:

Overview

In this role you will design, execute and analyze environmental stress tests for drone sub-systems and GSE. You will work within the Environmental Cluster to ensure survivability and performance under real-world stress, collaborating with domain specialists and other engineers. The position offers exposure to a range of hardware domains and testing disciplines, with a focus on robust, safe, and compliant environmental validation. This is an opportunity to contribute to defense tech at scale while balancing ethical considerations and innovation.

Pay / Benefits

  • Competitive salary and VSOP options
  • Relocation support: up to 2,500 and 4 weeks temporary accommodation
  • Learning: 500/450 yearly allowance
  • Health & wellness: gym membership and mental health support
  • Regular company events and monthly social allowances
  • Enhanced parental leave: 22 weeks primary, 6 weeks secondary

Responsibilities

  • Design and run vibration test campaigns (sine sweep, random vibration, shock) on drone sub-systems and GSE.
  • Execute thermal soak and cycling tests across operating temperature ranges.
  • Conduct IP and ingress testing on drone enclosures, connectors, and GSE hardware.
  • Run humidity, salt spray and corrosion campaigns to assess environmental risks.
  • Validate component behavior under altitude simulation and low-pressure conditions.
  • Perform fatigue and endurancerelated testing to characterize lifetime performance.
  • Undertake failure mode boundary testing to map failure envelopes and safety margins.

Key requirements

  • Environmental standards literacy as primary framework for test design and execution.
  • Expertise in physical instrumentation (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, load cells) and DAQ configuration.
  • Solid mechanical systems understanding (structural mechanics, fatigue, vibration, shock).
  • Experience with thermal testing (thermal chambers, cycling rigs, IR cameras, thermocouple mapping).
  • Hands-on operation of environmental test equipment (vibration tables, shock rigs, IP spray, salt-spray cabinets).
  • Proficiency in metrology (load frames, calipers, torque meters, gauges) for test validation.
  • Basic familiarity with defense hardware constraints and ITAR/EAR export controls.
  • Responsible autonomy
  • Critical thinking
  • Clear communication
  • Environmental standards literacy
  • Instrumentation & DAQ
