Overview
In this senior role you will lead second-line financial crime oversight for Schroders Wealth Management. You will advise, challenge and govern across AML, sanctions, fraud and related risk areas to protect the firm and support regulatory expectations. Your work spans risk assessment, policy alignment, reporting and training, partnering with governance forums to drive effective controls. This is a chance to shape financial crime oversight at scale within a heritage global investor. Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing financial crime guidance to the business and manage escalation channels.
- Triage issues by severity and control weakness, defining ownership, deadlines and escalation paths.
- Support review and escalation of significant financial crime matters (fraud, sanctions, suspicious indicators, high-risk payments).
- Document root causes, KRI impacts and remediation approaches in issue reports.
- Oversee high-risk client relationships, onboarding, triggers and annual reviews with risk-based escalation criteria.
- Assist with regulatory reporting preparation, review and coordination for submissions and attestations.
- Maintain and align Financial Crime framework, policies, standards and inventories with regulatory expectations.
- Support second-line assurance over first-line controls, including thematic reviews and risk-based oversight plan.
- Provide second-line oversight of screening, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and related controls.
Key requirements
- Strong understanding of financial crime risks in Wealth Management (AML, CTF, sanctions, fraud, bribery and corruption, etc.).
- Experience in second-line compliance, advisory, oversight, assurance or monitoring.
- Ability to challenge first-line teams while maintaining collaborative stakeholder relationships.
- Experience producing MI for boards or senior management with risk-based commentary.
- Familiarity with client due diligence, enhanced due diligence and high-risk client review processes.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, policy review, risk assessments or training delivery.
