Overview
As Software Engineer on the SatDevEx team, you will help build and improve the software build, test, and deployment framework for Spire’s satellite constellation. You will work with a multidisciplinary group to design testing frameworks for virtual and bare-metal environments and to automate satellite software updates. The role focuses on reducing friction in the development lifecycle with powerful, user-friendly tooling and on shaping a next-generation, high-performance software framework for space systems. This is a hands-on, impact-driven opportunity within a collaborative, automation-focused culture.

Responsibilities
- Design and maintain advanced testing frameworks for virtual and bare-metal environments for internal teams and external customers
- Build and enhance an automated software update pipeline for satellites in orbit
- Identify and eliminate friction points in the satellite software development lifecycle with streamlined tools and workflows
- Architect and implement the next-generation satellite software framework to support resilient and high-performance space systems
Key requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- Computer science degree or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in at least one: Rust, Python
- Linux/Unix, Git, Docker, Shell Scripting
- Familiarity with PaaS, IaC, Cloud and CI tools (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Github Actions, PostgreSQL, Hashicorp Vault, Grafana, Databricks)
