Overview

As a Transport Department Manager, you will lead the transport operation within your department to keep goods moving safely, legally and on time. You will align daily activity with the depot strategy while ensuring compliance with Asda standards. You’ll manage scheduling, vehicle deployment and delivery accuracy, using established procedures and routine checks. You’ll collaborate across teams to improve transport processes and hit departmental goals. Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day transport activity, including scheduling and vehicle deployment
  • Ensure delivery accuracy and adherence to procedures
  • Carry out routine checks and maintain compliance with legal requirements and Asda standards
  • Support the depot strategy and strive to meet departmental KRAs
  • Analyse transport data and generate clear reports to inform decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support wider depot operations

Key requirements

  • Experience with structured transport or logistics procedures
  • Experience supervising colleagues or leading routine operational activity
  • Strong planning skills including scheduling and prioritising work
  • Understanding of safe systems of work and transport compliance
  • Ability to interpret data, analyse trends, and produce clear reports
  • Strong communication and people-support skills
