Overview
As Product Owner in HSBC’s Financial Crime Chief Data and Analytics Office, you will manage data products and platforms on Compliance/FC Data Lakes and Cloud Environments to evolve datasets that improve crime detection models. You’ll liaise with users and stakeholders, define priorities, and drive a vision that aligns with HSBC’s strategy while ensuring data quality, security, and reuse. You’ll work across data, analytics, architecture, and technology teams to deliver impactful, compliant data solutions. This role offers a meaningful impact on risk and decision-making in a large global bank.
Responsibilities
- Act as primary liaison with users and stakeholders
- Define priorities and track team activities
- Promote and communicate the product vision to the organisation
- Ensure reusability and alignment with architects to reduce future costs
- Coach and support other Product Owners to raise agile maturity
- Own and communicate the to-be product vision to Business, Architecture and Technology teams
- Translate customer needs into backlog items and perform data analysis/testing for Data Platforms initiatives
- Articulate backlog items with acceptance criteria and prioritise to achieve the vision
- Maintain a visible, transparent Team Backlog and manage a front door for backlog intake
- Ensure demand fits HSBC strategy and maximize asset reuse
- Collaborate with Agile Team to inspect and progress delivery
- Prioritisation and design decisions with SMEs for products and engagements
- Balance diverse viewpoints to drive inclusive product strategies
Key requirements
- Product owner experience in financial services or technology domain with agile practices (Scrum or Kanban)
- Data analysis/engineering/analytics experience; SQL and Python desirable
- Familiarity with financial services organisations and customer products
- Knowledge of data security, privacy and access for sensitive data across jurisdictions
- Experience in financial crime domain desirable
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and secure buy-in for product strategies
- Strong leadership to set priorities and align business and tech teams
- Ability to understand complex problems and design data-driven solutions
- Proactive in learning new tools, concepts, and trends in anti-financial crime and data services
