Overview

Experienced HR leader sought to steer a diverse HR Services portfolio, including payroll, temporary staffing, HR systems and Workforce Information. You will partner with external payroll providers and oversee system-driven reporting to support planning and decision-making. Your leadership will drive service improvement, governance, and successful NHS People Portal transformation. This role combines people leadership with change and technology to deliver trusted workforce information and compliant, high-quality payroll and HR services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the HR Services function, ensuring accurate payroll preparation, liaison with external provider, temporary staffing, and first-line HR support
  • Oversee HR Systems implementation and development (including ESR and e-Rostering) to maximise benefits and data quality
  • Lead Workforce Information to enable real-time, trusted workforce data for planning and compliance
  • Support the Trust’s transition to NHS PeoplePortal and manage sustainable change
  • Cultivate a culture where teams feel valued and encouraged to improve
  • Collaborate across HR and the wider Trust to deliver the Trust People strategy and NHS People plan priorities

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience of leading and managing payroll services, including outsourced payroll provision, payroll governance, complex pay issues and service improvement
  • Extensive experience of implementing ESR & e-Rostering systems
  • Extensive experience of managing HR teams in a healthcare environment
  • Experience of workforce/roster planning and HR change/transformation projects
  • Experience of working within a project and change management environment
  • Experience of Risk Management and stakeholder/supplier relationship management
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to discuss and explain technical issues to non-technical staff
  • Ability to engage and influence at senior level
  • In depth knowledge of e-rostering & ESR systems
  • Knowledge of payroll governance, statutory requirements and complex payroll issues
  • Practical project management methodologies
