Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor in Gleeds’ Infrastructure team, you will own commercial relationships with suppliers for transportation projects. You will act as the primary contact for contract and commercial matters, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders within a multi-disciplinary programme. You will oversee cost planning, budgets, and cash flow, and contribute to value engineering to maximise whole‑life value. Responsibilities
- Operate NEC and other forms of contract ensuring compliance and timelines
- Embed commercial considerations in early design decisions with design and planning teams
- Manage contractor and supplier engagement alongside the client and stakeholders
- Support or lead a small commercial team, setting goals and monitoring performance
- Ensure clear communication on budgets, risks, and contractual obligations across stakeholders
- Provide cost planning, budgeting, monitoring, and cost control throughout the project life cycle
- Maintain accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for client reporting
- Conduct value engineering and whole-life cost analysis to maximise value for money
Key requirements
- Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- Background in Infrastructure, Civils, Rail, or Utilities is beneficial
- Excellent written and verbal communication; methodical thinking and adaptability
- Strong problem-solving, negotiating, finance and numeracy skills
- HNC, HND or Degree in Cost Management, Quantity Surveying or similar (ideal)
- Professional qualifications like RICS, CIPS, or CIOB are desirable but not essential
