Spire Global is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Satellite Developer Experience (SatDevEx) team to create and expand a software build, test, and deployment framework befitting one of the world’s largest and most dynamic satellite constellations.

The SatDevEx team build and maintain the tools and infrastructure that make satellite software development at Spire faster, safer, and more enjoyable. Our products benefit our fellow engineers while unlocking considerable potential in support of wider company initiatives and customer projects.
What You’ll Work On
- You’ll collaborate with a highly skilled, multidisciplinary engineering organization to:
- Design and maintain advanced testing frameworks—supporting both virtual and bare-metal hardware environments for internal teams and external customers.
- Build and enhance an automated software update pipeline for satellites in orbit.
- Identify and eliminate friction points in the satellite software development lifecycle with smart, user-friendly tools and workflows.
- Architect and implement the next-generation satellite software framework to support highly resilient and high-performance space systems.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience and interest in building infrastructure or tools that support developer productivity.
- Strong coding skills and familiarity with testing and observation strategies.
- Passion for automation, reliability, scalability, and elegant tooling.
- Comfort navigating complex systems, quickly learning and navigating new arenas of code, and collaborating across functions (e.g., software researchers, embedded developers, satellite operators).
- Willingness to provide emergency operational support, fix bugs and maintain existing code.
Desired Skills/Experience
- 4+ years of working experience in software engineering
- Computer science degree or equivalent work experience; experience in the full lifecycle of a software.
- Software programming experience and proficiency in at least one of: Rust, Python
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix, Git, Docker and Shell Scripting
- Familiarity with PaaS, IaC, Cloud and CI tools. Examples include AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Github Actions, PostgreSQL, Hashicorp Vault, Grafana, Databricks.
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three business days per week in the office.
