About the Role
We are working with an established hospitality business based in Central London who are looking to appoint an Assistant Finance Manager to join their finance team.
This is a hands-on accounting role with a strong focus on month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting and statutory requirements. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the finance function operates efficiently and that accurate financial information is produced within agreed deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the month-end close process, ensuring all accounting activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and other adjustments.
- Oversee and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain loan reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly management reports and supporting financial analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and year-end accounts.
- Prepare VAT returns and ensure accurate and timely VAT reporting.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are appropriately resolved.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Assist with financial controls, process improvements and other ad-hoc finance activities.
- Work closely with the wider finance team and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
About You
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent accounting experience.
- Relevant industry experience in a hands-on accounting role is essential.
- Strong experience of month-end close and management accounting processes.
- Good understanding of AP, AR, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience with loan reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Practical experience preparing financial statements and VAT returns.
- Strong Excel skills with good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Hospitality, leisure, retail or other multi-site industry experience would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Full right to work in the UK is essential.
