Technical Operations Network Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help maintain and enhance a secure enterprise network supporting critical services across the UK. You will work within the Technical Operations team to implement secure networking across Cisco, Fortinet, and Azure environments, contributing to security initiatives and major infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with Cyber Security to remediate vulnerabilities and drive automation to improve operations. This is a hands-on role in a highly secure environment with a focus on resilience and continuous improvement. You will play a pivotal part in shaping secure, scalable network services for critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manage WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and firewall infrastructure
• Maintain Cisco and Fortinet network environments
• Support Azure networking services
• Review technical designs for security best practices
• Collaborate with Cyber Security on vulnerability remediation
• Manage network performance, capacity and availability
• Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues
• Drive automation and operational improvements
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers
• Support critical infrastructure services within a secure environment

Key requirements

• Strong Network Engineering experience
• Cisco routing and switching expertise
• Experience with Cisco ACI and FMG
• Strong Fortinet skills including FortiGate environments
• Azure networking experience
• Knowledge of BGP, VPNs, VLANs, DNS and DHCP
• Experience of network security technologies and firewalls
• Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
• CCNA certification or equivalent
