Overview

In this role you drive a safe, compliant 24-hour distribution operation at the Northampton DC. You will lead Health & Safety initiatives, collaborate with operations to embed a proactive safety culture, and use data insights to improve safety and efficiency. You manage risk, incidents and regulatory compliance while overseeing fleet telemetry and training. This is a hands-on leadership position with impact across the site and supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Own site-wide health, safety and operational compliance frameworks
  • Lead a team (direct and indirect) and oversee risk assessments, SOPs, incident investigations and inspections
  • Chair the monthly H&S Forum and provide safety updates to management and site teams
  • Manage MHE fleet telemetry (Yale Vision) and related access and approvals
  • Conduct data analytics to drive continuous safety improvements across the supply chain
  • Deliver and oversee safety training, onboarding and manual handling programs
  • Manage external inspectors and registrations, permits to work, and audit readiness
  • Lead agency relationships and ensure anti-modern slavery compliance checks
  • Monitor proactive safety metrics (observations, near-misses, CCTV) and present monthly reports
  • Oversee onboarding, training delivery and cross-functional training initiatives
  • Ensure cross-group representation on safety forums and drive safety culture across operations

Key requirements

  • NEBOSH qualification, IOSH membership, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
  • Experience in health, safety and compliance within fast-paced warehousing or distribution
  • Experience in risk assessment, root-cause investigations and regulatory compliance
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence safety culture as a business enabler
  • Excellent communication, presentation and training delivery
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills to identify trends
  • Experience with MHE and safety telemetry is desirable
