Overview
In-house projects lawyer role within a major transport company, offering wide exposure to cross-functional teams and end-to-end project work. You’ll structure and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on procurement, maintenance, and asset financing, and contribute to growth opportunities. The role blends legal risk management with business strategy in a hybrid London setting. You will work closely with other lawyers to deliver pragmatic, commercial legal support and shape long-term protection for the business. Responsibilities
- Structure, draft, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements with train operating companies, manufacturers, maintenance suppliers and engineering consultancies
- Provide proactive and reactive legal advice on projects involving procurement, maintenance, operation, refurbishment, insurance, leasing, sale and disposal of rolling stock
- Support diversification and growth initiatives with legal input
- Advise on a wide range of legal issues including commercial contracts, regulatory, public procurement, IPR, health and safety, corporate and competition law
- Collaborate with the Legal Team to share information and provide pragmatic advice
- Advise on asset financing and banking matters related to debt and security structures where applicable
Key requirements
- Solicitor or Barrister qualified in England & Wales (or another Common Law jurisdiction)
- 2–5 years post-qualification experience
- Experience in infrastructure, construction or financing (asset or project financing)
- Desirable: in-house experience; rail/transport sector experience
- Willingness to attend central London offices on a hybrid basis (50% in-office)
