Senior Management Accountant

Overview

In this role you own the monthly management accounting cycle within a fast-paced, international services business. You will drive accuracy in P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, and present insights to senior management. You’ll lead month-end processes, support budgeting and forecasts, and strengthen financial controls. The position offers international exposure and opportunities to shape reporting efficiency and automation. You will partner with the finance team and other stakeholders to deliver timely, reliable financial information.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and supporting schedules
• Manage month-end close, meet deadlines, ensure accurate reporting
• Prepare and review journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, payroll)
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve items promptly
• Provide variance analysis against budget/forecast/prior periods with key drivers
• Prepare and present monthly management reporting packs for senior management
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
• Monitor margins, working capital, and cash flow; identify risks/opportunities
• Assist with VAT, statutory reporting and compliance as required
• Support year-end audit processes and liaison with auditors
• Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and reporting
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
• Provide guidance to junior finance staff; assist with ad hoc analyses and strategic projects

Key requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Management accounting experience in a fast-paced environment
• Experience owning or leading month-end processes
• Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and financial controls
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modelling)
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems, ideally Business Central or similar
• Comfortable presenting financial information to senior stakeholders
