Overview

As an Entry level Business Analyst, you will support portfolio modelling, forecasting, and performance analysis for the FCAS programme, enabling data-driven decisions. You’ll work with business and data analysts to gather data, maintain models, and create dashboards, contributing to strategic planning and operational performance. You will gain hands-on experience in decision-making processes across levels and help scale data insights within a defence and aerospace context. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain portfolio-wide business models and forecasting tools
  • Collect, validate, and analyse data from multiple sources
  • Support modelling for resource demand, capacity planning, production forecasting, and portfolio performance
  • Produce reports, dashboards, and visualisations communicating insights
  • Assist with scenario analysis on schedules, resources, priorities, costs, and outputs
  • Support data analysis for estimating activities and trend identification
  • Maintain model documentation, assumptions, and governance records
  • Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and identify data quality improvements
  • Handle ad hoc requests from Portfolio Performance and other functions

Key requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work confidently with data to identify trends and insights
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Effective communication for presenting information to varied audiences
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrable interest in business analysis, modelling, forecasting, or data analytics
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python or similar tools
  • Understanding of project, programme, portfolio, or business planning processes
  • Knowledge of forecasting, resource planning, scheduling, or financial analysis techniques
  • Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defence or complex programmes
  • Experience producing management information, reports, or dashboards
