Deputy Team Manager

Overview

In this senior role, you will support the Team Manager and oversee the delivery of the planning service across East and West area teams. You will manage a varied planning caseload, lead pre-application discussions, handle appeals, and present reports to Planning Committee. You will also mentor colleagues, drive service improvements, and deputise for the Team Manager when needed. This position focuses on delivering a high-quality planning service and coordinating cross-team efforts to achieve planning outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied planning application caseload including delegated decisions and committee reports
• Lead on pre-application discussions across development proposals
• Handle appeals and provide planning advice to applicants and stakeholders
• Support the management of the wider Development Management team and deputise for the Team Manager
• Clear and present reports at Planning Committee
• Drive service improvements and change within the team
• Mentor officers and support professional development
