Overview

As Transformation Lead you will own the change management approach for UCL’s Research and Innovation portfolio and coach senior leaders to land lasting change. You will align change efforts with programme planning, shaping interventions across multiple faculties and professional services. Your work will drive adoption, benefits realization and smoother transitions through stakeholder engagement and capability building. This role sits on the Extended Strategic Change Leadership team and offers scope to influence enterprise-wide transformation at a prestigious research university.

Responsibilities

  • Own the change management strategy across the Research and Innovation portfolio aligned with programme plans.
  • Assess change impacts and use data to inform decisions and manage change load.
  • Advise on and deliver change management for diverse programmes improving research and innovation services.
  • Coach sponsors and senior leaders, lead workshops and readiness sessions.
  • Apply agile and waterfall change management tools, including stakeholder mapping, impact assessments and benefits planning.
  • Design engagement and communication approaches to ease transitions and address resistance.
  • Grow change capability across UCL.

Key requirements

  • recognised change qualification or certification (e.g., APMG or Prosci)
  • track record of embedding change in a large, complex organisation using both agile and waterfall approaches
  • knowledge or understanding of research and innovation operations in higher education
  • expert change management skills: stakeholder management, impact and readiness assessment, transition delivery and training needs analysis
  • proven team leadership including matrix management and developing individuals
  • strong relationship-building, influencing and coaching skills at all levels
  • excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences
  • strategic thinking at enterprise level with ability to plan, pivot and lead through ambiguity
