Commercial/Contracts Manager

Overview

In this role you will act as the contractual and commercial backbone for bids and contract handling within the Defence and Security team in the UK and EMEA. You will shape commercial responses and negotiation strategies, ensuring compliant, commercially viable contracts. You will work closely with CAE legal and cross-functional bid teams to turn customer requirements into solid agreements and mitigations. This is a hands-on role in a mission-driven organization that values collaboration and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for contractual matters with customers and internal stakeholders
• Review customer contracts and provide CAE position with legal input
• Contribute to Business Winning Bid Teams by drafting Commercial Responses to RFPs and supporting documentation
• Assist Bids and Proposals Manager with Commercial Volume, Risk/Opportunities, and Compliance matrices
• Support negotiation strategy development and participate in contract negotiations to meet business needs
• Prepare and negotiate contracts and amendments with CAE legal support and obtain approvals
• Guide compliance with contract terms and ensure proper downstream flow-down to subcontractors
• Identify contractual liabilities, risks, and disputes and coordinate mitigation plans with CAE legal
• Maintain contractual records and ensure adherence to corporate policies and bidding procedures
• Support subcontract negotiations as needed
• Travel to CAE and customer sites as required and maintain readiness for security clearance processes

Key requirements

• At least 7 years in a commercial, marketing or business-related field
• Extensive knowledge of contract law and UK MoD terms (e.g., DEFCONS) and public procurement
• Strong business acumen
• Good organisational and co-ordination skills
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Strong negotiating skills
• Knowledge of data protection legislation (desirable)
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Project
