We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to get stuck in, can lead by example and has the technical knowledge to support a busy engineering department.

The Role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in overseeing daily engineering activities, supporting the maintenance team and ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting and mentoring members of the engineering team.
  • Organising and prioritising maintenance activities to minimise production downtime.
  • Remaining hands‑on with machinery maintenance, fault finding and engineering activities.
  • Supporting planned preventative maintenance and TPM activities.
  • Identifying recurring equipment failures and implementing long‑term improvements.
  • Conducting root cause analysis.
  • Coordinating engineering shift reports and maintenance documentation.

The Ideal Senior Mechanical Engineer:

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to take on additional responsibility. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance or engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, including apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 at a minimum.
  • Strong mechanical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • An understanding of electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring or leading engineering teams.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.

Previous leadership experience would be advantageous, although engineers who are ready to progress into a more senior position are encouraged to apply.

Package Offered to the Senior Mechanical Engineer:

  • 38 hours per week – DAY SHIFTS!
  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
  • Start and finish times may vary depending on business requirements.
  • £67,500 annual salary
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Early Friday finish
  • 33 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays
