Help rebuild the finance function of a fast-growing consultancy. As Accounts Assistant, you will own transactional finance and use AI and automation to shape how the team works, reporting directly to the CFO.
The Company
This is for an analytically focused private equity consulting firm of around 100 people, based in central London, near Great Portland Street. Growth has been significant, and the finance function is being rebuilt to keep pace. You will join a lean team with direct access to the CFO, real ownership of your processes and visibility across the business from day one. They actively encourage the use of AI tools to improve how finance work gets done.
The Role
This Accounts Assistant role starts with full ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping and finance operations. Over time, you will shape the automation of those processes and move into management accounting. It is a genuine progression path, with increasing influence over how the finance function delivers for a growing business.
- Own accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, coding and approvals.
- Deliver bank and balance sheet reconciliations, clearing discrepancies promptly.
- Run payment runs and employee expenses, including multi-currency considerations.
- Support month-end close with accruals, prepayments, journals and supporting schedules.
- Design and build automation for reconciliations, journals and invoice processing with the CFO.
- Produce management accounts and variance analysis as your scope grows.
Requirements
Must-Have
- Hands-on AP, AR, bank reconciliation, payments and month-end experience
- Accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or Dynamics, plus Excel
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to own a process independently
- Clear communication with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders
- Openness to using AI tools in finance, and to AAT, ACCA or CIMA study
Nice-to-Have
- Excel VBA or Python automation experience
- Multi-entity, multi-currency or intercompany accounting exposure
- Management accounts or variance analysis experience
