Oxford Playhouse is one of the country’s leading regional theatres and the only not-for-profit mid-scale venue in Oxfordshire. The theatre is at the heart of cultural life in the city and region, with a wonderfully rich heritage of live performance, drama, dance, music and comedy, and a thriving programme of participatory workshops and projects. • Develop and implement a planned preventative maintenance programme, including regular walk-rounds, tests, inspections and audit of plant, equipment and building fabric.
  • Assist the Director to ensure all statutory inspections and certifications are up to date, actions or recommendations are acted on and required remedial works are scheduled promptly.
  • Programme and operate the Building Management System to control cooling, ventilation and heating systems efficiently.
  • Regularly monitor our energy and utility usage. Proactively improve energy efficiency, identifying and implementing savings wherever possible.
  • Participate in our Sustainability Committee (Green Team) and proactively identify opportunities for us to improve.
  • Manage the health, safety and wellbeing of the Maintenance Technician, contractors, and other colleagues working with you, with particular regard for risk assessment, working hours, COSHH, asbestos management, manual handling procedures and safe systems of work.

  • Relevant experience and transferable skills from one or more of: facilities or building services, mechanical, electrical or plumbing, or other related work, either in-house or as a contractor.
  • Commitment to delivering a high standard of work.
  • A working knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • A proactive approach to identifying requirements and solutions.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, trainees, contractors and service providers.
  • Diligent approach to inspection, record-keeping and cost control.
