STARS is in an exciting stage of continueddevelopment and expansion. We are seeking a highly skilled,enthusiastic and dedicated learning support assistant to join our inspiringteam. We are a Medical PRU committed to ‘Empowering every child to engage witheducation.’

STARS was judged as outstanding in the most recent Ofstedinspection (February 2024). We work with children and young people with complexmedical needs who are unable, either temporarily or longer term, to access theirmainstream school. The majority of pupils attend the Drapers Centre inCarshalton where they are able to access the curriculum in small groups in anurturing and therapeutic setting. Other pupils may receive 1-1 individualtuition at various sites within the London Borough of Sutton including theschool room at the Royal Marsden Hospital. What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting students: Support students to engage in STARS, adaptingyour approach to meet the diverse needs of students. Help in a wide varietyof aspects throughout the day taking initiative where appropriate and workingto continually ensure every student is safe and supported.
  • Reintegration focus: Working with students who have been outofmainstream education for long periods due to medical reasons, helping themto build resilience and develop skills to prepare for a successful return.
  • Multi-site travel: Being comfortable and willing to travel betweenvarious sites as required to best support our students in their journey toreintegrate back into mainstream.
  • Collaborative practice: Working closely with all staff across theprovision to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to studentwell-being and education.
  • Innovation: Contributing to our ongoing mission tore-think our approach to engaging children and teaching at STARS, bringingfresh ideas and innovative methods to the classroom.
  • Supporting staff: Taking initiative to support other members ofthe team to ensure they are able to fulfill their roles to the best oftheir ability.
