Senior Development Underwriter

Overview

Exciting Development Underwriter role with a national insurer, focused on building broker relationships and growing a regional commercial P&C book in the South West. You will apply delegated underwriting authority while developing new business and managing key broker accounts, collaborating with a central underwriting team. The role is home-based with strong market visibility and autonomy to move quickly. The position supports career development as the regional operation expands, backed by experienced technical and actuarial support. Responsibilities

• Develop new broker relationships across the South West (national and independent)
• Underwrite commercial P&C risks within delegated authority for SME/mid-market
• Manage and retain existing broker accounts with high service levels
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the South West and Scottish broker markets
• Collaborate with regional and national underwriting teams to ensure consistent delivery
• Represent the company with professionalism and technical credibility in the market

Key requirements

• Commercial P&C underwriting experience in SME or mid-market
• Established broker network in the South West (national or independent)
• Background from composite insurer, MGA, or similar underwriting environment
• Technical underwriter with autonomy and credibility in decision-making
• Self-motivated, field-facing, home-based role
• Proven track record of generating new business, not just managing existing portfolio
