Overview

As Principal Electrical Engineer in Ramboll’s UK Healthcare team, you will lead electrical design and advisory for demanding hospital projects, shaping resilient, low‑carbon strategies and overseeing digital delivery. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and engage clients to deliver high‑quality outcomes. The role combines hands‑on design with leadership and risk management in a globally connected healthcare network.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for electrical building services from concept through to handover
• Mentor electrical engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary colleagues
• Develop and oversee design concepts and detailed calculations to meet UK healthcare standards
• Lead digital delivery and MEP coordination using Revit (BIM 360) and industry tools such as MagiCad, Dialux, IES, Trimble
• Act as client-facing technical lead: present solutions, chair workshops, maintain client relationships
• Manage project scope, resources, and delivery; identify and mitigate technical/commercial risks
• Embed sustainability, resilience, and QA practices across projects
• Contribute to proposals, thought leadership and external stakeholder engagement

Key requirements

• Proven track record delivering electrical building services on UK healthcare or high‑resilience projects
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving a collaborative, inclusive culture
• Degree (or equivalent) in electrical, building services or related engineering
• Eligibility for, or progress towards, MCIBSE, MIET or MIHEEM – with chartership support provided by Ramboll
• Strong digital design delivery with Revit/BIM 360 and familiarity with MagiCad, Dialux, IES, Trimble
• Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams
• Clear communicator able to explain complex concepts to clients and multidisciplinary teams
