Overview
As a Principal Civil Engineer at AECOM, you will lead civil design and project delivery for a portfolio of energy projects across Renewables & Transmission and Distribution. You’ll work with cross-functional teams and clients to drive feasibility, detailed design, and construction supervision, shaping sustainable infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Act as lead verifier on feasibility studies and design reports
- Manage day-to-day project work with clients within time and budget constraints
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams
- Lead civil infrastructure design (roads, drainage, external works)
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications to UK standards
- Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries
- Produce high-quality reports (feasibility studies, inspection reports, design documents)
- Mentor and guide junior staff
Key requirements
- BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered status or in progress towards chartership (IStructE or equivalent)
- Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy transition projects (highly desirable)
- Experience in UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV-400kV) (highly desirable)
- Strong technical competency in civil/structural design
- Solid report writing and organizational skills
- Familiarity with National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS) or CDAE status (advantage)
