Job Description:

Jewellery Studio & Creative Assistant – Part Time

We are looking for a creative, practical and highly organised assistant to work alongside Babette for one or two days per week.

This is a varied, hands-on role that would particularly suit a recent graduate with a strong visual eye who is interested in jewellery, photography, design and the day-to-day workings of a small creative business.

A key part of the role will be photographing jewellery, so a good eye for photography, composition, lighting and visual presentation is essential. You don’t necessarily need to be a professional photographer, but you should naturally understand how to make a product look beautiful in an image.

The role will vary from day to day and may include:

  • Photographing jewellery for the website, social media and internal use
  • Setting up and composing simple product photographs
  • Basic image selection, organisation and editing
  • Uploading products, photographs and information to the website
  • Helping with general website and e-commerce administration
  • Taking jewellery, stones and components to and from our London workshops
  • Collecting stones, samples and finished pieces from suppliers and workshops
  • Keeping track of jewellery and components moving between the office and workshops
  • Helping organise samples, photography and product information
  • General studio and office administration
  • Assisting Babette with day-to-day tasks and some PA duties

Skills and Experience Required

Who we’re looking for

  • A very good visual eye and strong sense of composition
  • Confident taking good-quality photographs
  • Highly organised and reliable
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Happy with a varied role where priorities can change from day to day
  • Comfortable travelling around central London to workshops and suppliers

An advantage:

  • Knowledge of jewellery construction, gemstones or manufacturing
  • Experience photographing small products or jewellery
  • Photoshop, Lightroom or other basic image-editing skills
  • Experience with WordPress, Shopify or other e-commerce platforms

Knowledge of jewellery would be particularly useful as the role involves handling pieces, stones and components and communicating with our workshops, but we are happy to teach the right person.

We’re primarily looking for someone with a strong visual instinct, common sense, enthusiasm and meticulous attention to detail.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across jewellery design, photography, production, e-commerce and the day-to-day running of an established independent jewellery brand.
