Overview

In this role you will oversee critical facilities infrastructure within a data centre, focusing on reliable MEP operation and risk management. You’ll lead electrical-biased maintenance, ensure safety compliance, and coordinate with vendors to uphold high service quality. The position sits on the engineering shift team and supports show-site standards, continuous improvement, and effective incident response. A strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and collaboration with cross-functional partners will shape your impact.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect MEP systems in the data centre with electrical bias
  • Recommend improvements and prepare concise technical reports
  • Supervise specialist vendors and ensure quality of service
  • Perform Authorised Person duties as required to support site
  • Provide engineering shift relief and maintain minimum staffing
  • Accurately record work orders, spares, and time spent
  • Attend weekly and quarterly meetings; complete shift handover reports
  • Participate in Health and Safety activities and toolbox talks
  • Coordinate with supply chain on MEP component orders
  • Hold areas to show-site standards and assess risks with mitigation
  • Complete work orders in line with SFG20 and ensure asset reliability
  • Escalate ONWH alarms per procedure and complete Corrigo CMMS entries
  • Produce site-specific SOP/MOP/EOP
  • Ensure work orders are acknowledged and completed within SLA

Key requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in Critical Environments (e.g., Banking HQ, Data Centres)
  • Authorised Person (High Voltage or Low Voltage)
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering UK Level 3 Qualification or equivalent
  • BS 7671 (Current Edition)
  • Desirable: C&G 2391 Inspection, Test and Certification
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Willingness to attend on/off-site MEP training, including potential overnight stays
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
