As Security Architect, you will design and implement security architectures to protect defence IT environments, driving enterprise security strategies and defence-grade controls. You will lead architecture reviews, risk management, and security programme implementations within cross-functional teams. You will shape zero-trust models, continuous verification, and compliance with MOD and ITAR standards, delivering resilient security across networks, apps and data. Responsibilities
- Design holistic, enterprise-wide security architectures aligned with Defence Security Policy
- Architect defence-in-depth solutions across network, application, data and endpoint layers
- Lead security architecture reviews and technical security assessments
- Design zero-trust models and continuous verification frameworks
- Assess threat landscape and design threat-informed security architectures
- Lead security risk assessments and vulnerability management programmes
- Develop incident response, threat intelligence and cyber defence capabilities
- Architect cloud security for hybrid/multi-cloud environments
- Design security operations centre (SOC) capabilities and SIEM
- Lead security technology evaluation and implementation programmes
- Establish security design standards and governance
- Engage with customers and stakeholders as technical authority on security architecture
Key requirements
- Minimum 12 years’ information security experience with 5+ years in architecture role
- Proven experience designing enterprise-scale security architectures
- Strong background in defence, aerospace or government security programmes
- Expertise in security operations, incident response and threat management
- Track record of leading security transformation and programme implementations
- Deep expertise in security architecture frameworks, methodologies and best practices
- Expert-level knowledge of network, endpoint and application security
- Cloud security proficiency (AWS, Azure or equivalent)
- Knowledge of security tools (SIEM, DLP, EDR, WAF, firewalls)
- Understanding of cryptography and security protocols
- Familiarity with MOD requirements, Classification Guides and defence standards
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, etc.
