Overview
In this role you will contribute to the UK Actuarial Research team, developing pricing and valuation bases for UK life products and leading research projects. You will work with cross-functional actuarial teams to improve models, processes and tooling, including automation and AI-enabled approaches. You will influence UK market strategies and help position RGA as a leading life reinsurer through analytics, thought leadership and collaboration. This is an opportunity to shape assumptions, experiments, and insights that drive better financial protection solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain best-estimate pricing and valuation assumptions for UK lines of business (Term, Whole of Life, Critical Illness, longevity risk products, Implied Life products)
- Monitor and review bases regularly for accuracy and relevance
- Drive process improvements, including automation and adoption of advanced tools (AI, cloud platforms)
- Contribute to research to enhance mortality, morbidity and persistency models
- Support marketing activities through industry engagement, seminars, and client communications
- Collaborate on internal committees and global knowledge sharing to leverage UK developments
- Lead ad-hoc research on risks and market strategies
- Assist in building corporate profile and participate in industry working parties and events
Key requirements
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary
- Minimum 3 years actuarial experience
- University degree in numerical subject, grade 2.1 or better
- Knowledge of actuarial concepts for mortality, morbidity and persistence studies
- Knowledge of the UK insurance marketplace (Life, Critical Illness, Annuities)
- Ability to work with minimal guidance and manage own time
- Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of statistics and statistical modelling
- Experience with programming to improve processes and create tools
