Our Durham Division, located in Rainton Bridge Business Park, Houghton-Le-Spring, is looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Division’s Commercial department, supporting developments across County Durham and TeessideThe RoleAs the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will report directly to the Commercial Director where you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of our developments across County Durham and Teeside. You will manage the costs for those allocated sites and ensure that targets are met by managing and controlling the budgets and valuations.Principal accountabilities of the role include:Producing draft budgets and site start budgets for each allocated site.Producing quarterly valuations and complete material ‘cost to complete’ exercises.Producing sub-contract payments and final accounts, ensuring that the sub-contractor has signed these off.Producing sub-contract orders, ensuring they are authorised, together with all necessary documentation to comply with Group Commercial Policy.Completing on-site measurements and assess payments to contractors.Attending and contributing to various meetings, such as pre-order meetings, quarterly valuation meetings and project review meetings with senior management, construction team as well as external contractors.Managing all sub-contract orders on site, meeting sub-contractors as and when required.Maintaining trade specifications.Pricing customer extras and liaising with the sales department as necessary.Managing Professional Fees Budget.Assisting with material buying when required.Assisting with take-off’s for land appraisals when required.Experience, Qualifications and SkillExperienceExperience of working as a Quantity Surveyor or Surveyor with a residential house builder.Knowledge of cost control systems and valuation reporting.Ideally experience of managing Housing Association contracts.Experience of COINS would be desirable.Qualifications and TrainingHND/HNC Building StudiesGCSE Grade C/4+ or equivalent in English and MathsCurrent CSCS card or equivalent is desirableRICS Professional Membership is desirableBSc in Quantity Surveying desirableSkills and AptitudeStrong communication and listening skills, with good negotiation skillsHighly motivated to deliver quality developmentsAbility to work on own as well as part of a teamExcellent attention to detail and demonstrates ability to meet deadlinesIT literate and the ability to adapt to new systemsGood administration skillsCommitted to diversity and inclusionThe Role and Working ConditionsWilling to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours workedOffice based role, with travel within the Divisional areaAbility to travel to development sites as and when requiredPlease note this role is subject to a basic DBS and financial pre-employment checksIn return we can offer you:Competitive salaryCompetitive car allowanceOptional salary sacrifice car schemeCompetitive annual bonusContributory pension scheme25 days holiday, plus bank holidaysAccess to discounts and benefits portalShareSave SchemeCycle to Work SchemeLife assuranceHoliday Purchase SchemeEarn and Learn OpportunitiesWe reserve the right to close this vacancy if a large volume of applications are received.
