Overview

In this role, you help design and run IMG’s new, automation-first broadcast network estate for live sport. You bridge traditional networking with modern NetOps, supporting 24/7 live content and a greenfield, IP-first facility. You’ll lead from build to run, collaborating with broadcast and corporate teams to ensure reliable, scalable delivery. You will shape how the network supports cutting-edge media workflows and secure, high-performance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Fabric and media network engineering: design, operate and troubleshoot leaf-spine fabrics with BGP/OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, VRF
  • Media networks: operate SMPTE ST 2110 environment with PTP timing and NMOS control
  • Multicast: maintain production-grade multicast for media and distribution
  • Capacity and lifecycle: manage upgrades and lifecycles without service impact in a 24/7 facility
  • NetOps and automation: maintain NetBox as authoritative source of truth; implement config-as-code with Python, Ansible, Git; develop streaming telemetry and observability
  • Observability: build monitoring using gNMI/gRPC, Grafana, Zabbix-like tools
  • Modernisation: lead automation-driven NetOps shift across the run function
  • WAN, cloud and security: manage eBGP edge over DWDM, cloud interconnects, and firewall security aligned to policy
  • Build, migration and leadership: support lab validation and migration of live services to new site; act as Level 3 escalation and mentor teams

Key requirements

  • Networking expertise: advanced TCP/IP, switching and routing in production (BGP/OSPF)
  • Multicast: advanced production experience
  • Automation: Python and Ansible for network automation; Git workflows
  • IPAM/DCIM: experience with NetBox or similar (NetBox preferred)
  • Observability: experience with Grafana, Zabbix, ELK stack, telemetry
  • Security: managing firewall estates (Palo Alto, Fortinet or Cisco) and firmware lifecycles
  • Advantageous: SMPTE ST 2110, PTP timing, NMOS; RTP/SRT/Zixi; lossless fabrics; DWDM knowledge
  • Vendor platforms: Arista EOS or Cisco NX-OS at data centre scale
  • Tooling: GitHub or similar; Jira or ClickUp
  • Clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Calm under pressure in live broadcast environments
  • Proactive mindset with automation-focused problem solving
