The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of an established M&E contractor looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Site Manager for a pharmaceutical project in Surrey.

The Role

As Mechanical Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of mechanical works on site, with a strong focus on installation, subcontractor management, Health & Safety, quality and programme.

You will oversee the mechanical installation through to testing, commissioning, snagging and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of mechanical works on site
  • Manage Mechanical Supervisors, site labour and specialist subcontractors
  • Oversee HVAC, pipework, plant and associated mechanical installations
  • Coordinate daily and weekly site activities
  • Monitor progress against programme and key project milestones
  • Ensure subcontractors are working to approved drawings and specifications
  • Review RAMS and ensure safe systems of work are followed
  • Carry out site inspections and maintain high standards of Health & Safety
  • Coordinate mechanical installations with electrical and other trades
  • Monitor installation quality and manage QA documentation
  • Identify and report potential programme or technical issues
  • Attend site coordination and progress meetings
  • Manage materials, deliveries and site logistics relating to the mechanical works
  • Oversee snagging and close-out activities
  • Support testing and commissioning
  • Drive the mechanical installation through to successful handover

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager within M&E / Building Services
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services installations
  • Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and site teams
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, pipework and plant installations
  • Pharmaceutical, life sciences, laboratory or similarly technical project experience would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Strong Health & Safety knowledge
  • Good understanding of QA, testing and commissioning
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Relevant Mechanical / Building Services qualification
  • SMSTS or equivalent
  • CSCS card
