Come and be part of a dynamic and evolving Health Visiting Team within the 0-19 service in Gloucestershire. We have a vacancy for a community nursery nurse to join our skill mix team of Health Visitors, Public Health Nurses and Community Nursery Nurses, led and supported by locality team leaders with strong support from our safeguarding nurses. We offer reflective supervision and are always looking for innovative ways to support colleagues in providing this vital role.

Main duties of the job

To work within a Health Visiting Team to deliver delegated components of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme (HCP), (DH 2009), monitoring quality and compliance and reporting risks by exception to the Clinical Team Leader.

To contribute to the delivery of the HCP and 6 High Impact areas , including working in hubs and delivering health promotion .

All staff must ensure compliance with the data protection legislation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The primary role of the Community Nursery Nurse is to deliver elements of the Healthy Child programme (2009) including the 6 High Impact Areas as delegated by Health Visitors. The Community Nursery Nurse should ensure that the quality of service delivered is aligned with the commissioned requirements of the Healthy Child Programme 0-19 years and the organisation’s vision & values. This includes working in partnership with internal & external agencies and organisations.

Use a communication style which is appropriate and sensitive to the situation whilst recognising the importance of confidentiality.

Actively participate in the giving and receiving of feedback with other team members.

Works as a member of the team and understands the role of other professionals within the team.

Communicates with statutory and voluntary agencies.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Good written and verbal communication skills

Understanding of normal child development.

Ability to identify a child displaying developmental delay.

We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module “Preceptorship for Healthcare” (AP7026).

Person specification

  • N.N.E.B./ BTEC Diploma in Child Care or NVQ in Erly years, Child Care and Education level 3 or equivalent.
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent or a willingness to complete this
  • Is able to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Be able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to identify a child displaying developmental delay.

  • Understanding of normal child development.
