Healthcare Support Worker — North East London NHS Foundation Trust


We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at the Axe Street Child & Family Centre. This is a full-time, permanent role working 37.5 hours per week, with a salary aligned to Band 3 (£25,760–£27,476). This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs across Paediatrics, Children Looked After (CLA), and Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

The Role


In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people, contributing to their care across a range of services. Your work will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely support is provided, enabling clinicians to deliver the best possible outcomes.



  • Work with children and young people with Special Educational Needs across Paediatrics, CLA, and CAMHS.

  • Undertake measurements such as weight, height, head circumference, and blood pressure, ensuring accuracy in recording data in the Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and BCYP’s records (red book).

  • Communicate findings effectively to the relevant clinician in a timely manner to support their decision-making.


Essential Skills and Qualifications



  • Basic awareness of IT systems and the ability to use them effectively.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively.

  • Effective organisational skills to manage tasks efficiently and prioritise workload.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • An understanding of confidentiality and data protection in a healthcare setting.

Starting with NELFT


NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and theallocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. Theinduction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.


Probationary PeriodThis post will be subject to a probationary period.


High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London(B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, Goodmayes)This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 p.a. pro rata for part time).
