Are you someone who cares deeply about achieving high standards, and helping to make beauty and history accessible to all? If so, you could become a Collections and House Officer at Newark Park, bringing to life the history and significance of this much-loved place.
Contract: Permanent
Hours/ working pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week. You will be part of the Duty Management and Property leadership team and will be required to work regular weekends and bank holidays.
What it’s like to work here
High on the ridge of the Cotswold escarpment, Newark Park is a picturesque estate, with astonishing views and an historic home at its heart. The house began life as a Tudor hunting lodge and under successive owners has undergone significant changes. We are a small team of staff and volunteers who together take care of this remarkable place and bring it to life for our visitors. The Collections and House Officer plays an important part in that team.
What you’ll be doing
As the Collections and House Officer, you’ll work closely with the Senior Visitor Experience Officer to be responsible for opening the house every day, and making sure there are enough people in the right places to give visitors a consistently good experience.
You will be line managed by the Property Operations Manager and supported by the Collections and House Manager who works across the Property Group of five properties. You’ll be responsible for routine conservation, preventive conservation and the annual programme of deep cleaning. Your attention and expertise will help to ensure excellent standards of care and presentation throughout the house. At Newark we encourage visitors to have a relaxed visit and as part of your role you will work with the Visitor Experience team to present the property in new and innovative ways.
You’ll collect and record information gathered during cleaning and housekeeping, to improve our knowledge and understanding of the house and all that’s in it. You’ll use preventive conservation methods to improve how we look after everything, and how we present it to visitors.
