The Role
As our new Customer Account Manager, you’ll be the main point of contact and accountability for a portfolio of Automotive customers, ensuring their operational, commercial and service requirements are consistently met. You’ll oversee forecasting, allocation, operational performance, profitability, KPIs, claims, invoicing compliance and customer reporting. Working closely with teams across GBA Logistics, you’ll represent your customers within the business, proactively identify risks and drive corrective actions to achieve customer expectations, contractual obligations and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities for the Customer Account Manager
- Take overall ownership of the operational, service and commercial performance of assigned customer accounts.
- Manage customer forecasting, demand planning, freight allocation and short-term capacity requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractor bookings, issue orders and review carrier performance, escalating recurring concerns where required.
- Provide clear operational handovers and work closely with the Monitoring Team to review tracking, service deviations and delivery performance.
- Lead regular customer operational reviews and ensure customer commitments, contractual obligations and service expectations are achieved.
- Monitor customer and carrier KPIs, identify risks and implement corrective actions across supporting teams.
- Manage account profitability, additional charges, demurrage claims and charge recovery opportunities.
- Ensure POD approvals, claims handling and invoicing are completed accurately and on time.
- Oversee ad-hoc quotation activity and monitor quote conversion performance.
- Maintain compliance and governance standards and provide regular performance reporting to the Head of Automotive Strategy & Development.
About You We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience in customer account management, transport, logistics or supply chain operations, ideally within the Automotive sector.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to manage account profitability, margins, invoicing, claims and cost recovery.
- Confident in analysing operational and carrier performance data, KPIs and service trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Excellent customer service, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to lead customer reviews and manage escalations.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to develop corrective action plans and drive actions through to completion.
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with Supply Chain, Freight Forwarding, Finance, Sales, Monitoring Teams and approved carriers.
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to accurate records, reporting, compliance and governance.
- Confidence using transport management systems such as 1TMS, or the ability to quickly learn new operational systems.
- A continuous-improvement mindset, with the confidence to challenge underperformance and recommend practical process and service improvements.
