Health & Safety Co-ordinator

to join our team based in Telford and play a key role in driving our health and safety culture across all areas of the business.The RoleReporting to Senior Management, the Health & Safety Co-ordinator will be responsible for supporting, monitoring, and improving health, safety, and compliance standards throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with managers and employees across all depots, ensuring compliance with current legislation, industry best practices, and company policies.This is a hands-on role requiring regular communication with operational teams, depot managers, drivers, and third-party providers to ensure the business maintains high standards of safety and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety ManagementPromote a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.Carry out workplace inspections, audits, and co-ordination of H&S across company locations.Assist with accident, incident, near-miss, and hazard investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.Monitor safety performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.Support managers in implementing safe systems of work and risk controls.Escalate health and safety concerns promptly and effectively to senior management.Compliance & DocumentationMaintain and oversee all health and safety documentation, including:Risk AssessmentsMethod Statements (RAMS)Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)Employee InductionsToolbox TalksTraining RecordsEquipment Inspection and Maintenance RecordsSupplier Audits and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs)Ensure all statutory inspections, checks, and compliance activities are completed and recorded accurately.Manage and maintain digital and paper-based compliance systems.Produce accurate reports, KPI data, and compliance updates for management review.Training & DevelopmentCoordinate health and safety training requirements across the business.Liaise with external training providers to arrange and monitor training courses.Assist with employee inductions and ongoing safety awareness programmes.Deliver toolbox talks and support managers with safety briefings where required.Operational SupportWork collaboratively with depot management and operational teams to address health and safety matters.Support the business with compliance relating to FORS, fleet operations, and industry best practices.Ensure all locations maintain required safety standards and compliance requirements.Provide guidance and support to managers regarding health and safety duties and responsibilities.Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and customer compliance requirements.Essential RequirementsIOSH Managing Safely qualification (minimum requirement).Previous experience within a Health & Safety or Compliance role.Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.Excellent organisational and administrative skills.Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Desirable RequirementsNEBOSH General Certificate (preferred but not essential).Experience working within transport, logistics, waste management, construction, or environmental services.Experience supporting ISO accreditation or similar compliance frameworks.BenefitsCompetitive salary of £32,000 – £35,000 per annum.28 days annual leave including bank holidays.Company Pension Scheme through Legal & General.Free on-site parking.Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.Opportunity to work within a growing and successful national business.Additional InformationThe successful candidate may be required to undertake additional duties consistent with the role and may provide support to other departments during periods of operational need, annual leave, or staff absence.If you are passionate about health and safety, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to help drive continuous improvement across a national operation, we would love to hear from you.
