Overview

In this Senior Project Design Engineer role, you lead the design and development of aerospace components and systems to support major programmes. You will work within a collaborative engineering culture and coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to drive project progress. The position involves creating and refining 3D CAD models, reviewing documentation, and guiding products through the lifecycle. You’ll tackle technical challenges in hydraulics and electromechanical systems, contributing to continuous improvement and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of aerospace components and systems
  • Create and modify 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Manage projects through the full product lifecycle
  • Review technical documentation including drawings, ECOs and BOMs
  • Present at design reviews
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Lead product investigations and continuous improvement activities
  • Support manufacturing and operational teams when required

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in aerospace, defence or other regulated engineering environments
  • Strong product design and development background
  • Competent with Creo, Pro/Engineer or similar 3D CAD software
  • Experience producing and reviewing engineering documentation
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and project management skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulics systems, rotating equipment, FEA or CFD advantageous
