Forensic Accountant

Overview

In this interim role, you will deliver forensic accounting support for a client in Hatfield, working onsite to investigate data discrepancies and VAT matters, while improving processes and ensuring timely delivery. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage a fast-paced workload, and apply hands-on analytical skills to support audits and reconciliations. Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic analysis of data reports, reconciliations and discrepancies
• Perform VAT analysis and reporting
• Handle contract reconciliations and document sourcing
• Liaise with HMRC/audit intermediaries
• Implement and improve existing processes
• Work onsite and manage tight deadlines
• Support onboarding and SME finance workflows

Key requirements

• Qualified accountant
• Strong academic background
• In-depth forensic analytical skills
• VAT analysis and reporting experience
• Contract reconciliations and documentation handling
• HMRC/audit liaison experience
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• Sage or similar ERP experience
• Hospitality or fast-moving industry background – preferred
• SME background essential
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Hands-on approach with good interpersonal skills
