Process Safety Engineer

Overview

In this role you will strengthen process safety at the Duxford site within Huntsman’s Advanced Materials activities. You will lead hazard and risk studies, support safety standards and procedures, and work on commissioning and project activities that underpin site investments. You’ll collaborate with EHS and PSM teams to drive a sustainable safety culture and contribute to the Zero Harm initiative. This role offers autonomy to balance assessments, procedures, and projects while delivering against deadlines. You will engage in meaningful, technically-focused work that shapes site safety and process integrity.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support process safety activities across the Duxford site
• Contribute to a sustainable process safety culture with EHS and PSM teams
• Maintain Process Safety Standards, Procedures and Guidelines
• Undertake risk assessments and hazard studies for new equipment
• Participate in root cause analysis as part of incident investigations
• Contribute to commissioning of engineering projects
• Collaborate with Process Safety Centre of Excellence to disseminate best practices
• Manage workload to meet business deadlines

Key requirements

• Graduate Engineer qualifications
• At least two years of relevant process safety experience
• Experience in process safety or related role
• Familiarity with Process Safety Management systems and their implementation
• Practical experience with risk assessments and hazard studies
• Familiarity with management of change and risk identification/reduction techniques
• Familiarity with failure mechanisms, protection systems and their design
• Engineering design and optimisation across unit operations
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
• Adaptability and ability to organize own workload
