Business Analyst

Overview

In this role you support portfolio modelling, forecasting and performance analysis to enable data-driven decisions across the FCAS programme. You work with cross-functional teams to gather data, maintain models, and produce insightful dashboards. You will develop scenario analyses and contribute to strategic and operational planning, gaining exposure to decision-making from strategic to operational levels. The opportunity combines hybrid work with a strong emphasis on building expertise in business modelling and data analytics to impact the programme’s delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain portfolio-wide business models and forecasting tools
• Collect, validate and analyse data from multiple sources
• Support modelling for resource demand, capacity planning, production forecasting and portfolio performance
• Produce reports, dashboards and visualisations to communicate insights
• Assist with scenario analysis to assess impact of changes to schedules, resources, costs and outputs
• Support data-driven estimation through trend analysis
• Maintain model documentation, assumptions and governance records
• Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and collaborate with stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes and modelling methods
• Support ad hoc requests from Portfolio Performance and wider business functions

Key requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
• Ability to work confidently with data to identify trends and insights
• Experience with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
• Effective communication and ability to present to different audiences
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams
• Demonstrable interest in business analysis, modelling, forecasting, or data analytics
• Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python or similar tools (preferred)
• Understanding of project, programme, portfolio or business planning processes
• Knowledge of forecasting, resource planning, scheduling or financial analysis
• Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defence or complex programmes
• Experience producing management information, reports or dashboards
• Awareness of scenario modelling and business performance measurement
