Role Summary

As a Graduate Engineer, you will support the Engineering team by creating and maintaining accurate engineering drawings, managing engineering documentation, and assisting with change control processes. You will help ensure engineering data, bills of materials, bills of operations, and system records are accurate and up to date to support efficient production, costing, and customer requirements.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Sales teams, you will gain experience in engineering processes while contributing to the smooth operation of the department through strong attention to detail and effective administration of engineering information.

What you’ll be doing:

Engineering Drawings & Documentation

  • Create and revise 2D and 3D engineering drawings using CAD software.
  • Maintain accurate engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Ensure drawing revisions are completed in line with company document control procedures.

    Organise and manage engineering records to ensure information can be easily accessed and traced.

Engineering Change Control

  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Ensure engineering changes are accurately recorded, approved, and communicated.
  • Maintain revision histories and support document version control activities.
  • Assist in monitoring the progress of engineering changes through to implementation.

Costing & Commercial Support

  • Support the preparation of product costings and material estimates.
  • Assist in gathering and maintaining technical information required for quotations, new product enquiries, and engineering projects.
  • Maintain bills of materials (BOMs), bills of operations (BOOs) and related engineering data within company systems.

Systems & Data Management

  • Maintain engineering data within ERP and other business systems.
  • Ensure engineering information is accurate, complete, and aligned across systems.
  • Support data cleansing and continuous improvement activities within the Engineering department.
  • Assist with reporting and data analysis as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering administration processes, data accuracy, and document management practices.

About you:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline through a degree, higher-level apprenticeship, or equivalent recognised engineering qualification.
  • Basic knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with different departments.
  • Willingness to learn engineering processes, systems, and manufacturing practices.

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience using CAD software such as PTC Creo.
  • Experience using CNC programming software.
  • Placement year or internship experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) or document control processes.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of bills of materials (BOMs), bills of operations (BOOs) and product data management systems.
