About the role:
The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for attracting, engaging and securing the people required to support Smiley Monroe’s continued growth and success. The role moves beyond traditional recruitment and vacancy filling, focusing instead on building talent pipelines, strengthening employer brand, developing candidate networks and supporting workforce planning to ensure the business has access to the capabilities it needs both now and in the future.
What you’ll be doing:
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
- Lead end-to-end recruitment activities across the business, ensuring a positive and engaging recruitment process.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements, capability needs and recruitment priorities.
- Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies, utilising LinkedIn Recruiter, networking and direct search techniques to engage high-quality candidates.
- Manage candidate assessment and selection processes, ensuring a fair, professional and consistent approach.
- Provide guidance and support to hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality of hire, candidate suitability and cultural alignment.
Talent Pipeline Development
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for critical, specialist and future-focused roles.
- Proactively identify and engage potential candidates before vacancies arise.
- Develop and nurture talent communities to support future recruitment needs.
- Build long-term relationships with prospective candidates and industry networks.
- Monitor labour market trends, competitor activity and emerging talent opportunities to inform recruitment strategies.
Employer Brand & Recruitment Marketing
- Support the development and promotion of Smiley Monroe’s employer brand across key talent markets.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing and leaders to create engaging recruitment and employer brand content.
- Promote career opportunities, employee stories and company culture through appropriate channels.
- Support targeted recruitment campaigns to attract talent in priority locations and functional areas.
- Identify opportunities to enhance Smiley Monroe’s visibility and reputation as an employer of choice.
Workforce Planning Support
- Support workforce planning activities by providing talent market insight and recruitment data.
- Work with leaders to understand future capability requirements and anticipated hiring needs.
- Identify potential talent risks and recommend proactive attraction strategies.
- Contribute to succession planning discussions by providing external talent market intelligence.
Recruitment Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Continuously review and improve recruitment processes, tools and candidate journeys.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and reporting through recruitment systems and platforms.
- Leverage technology, automation and data insights to enhance recruitment effectiveness and efficiency.
- Monitor and report on key recruitment metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure recruitment activities are conducted in line with company policies, employment legislation and best practice.
About you:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in recruitment, talent acquisition or a related talent-focused role.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing and attracting candidates through direct search, networking and proactive talent engagement methods across a range of markets or geographic regions.
- Experience building and maintaining talent pipelines for current and future recruitment needs.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and select candidates who align with organisational values, culture and behavioural expectations, while ensuring the skills and capabilities required for success in the role.
- Strong interviewing, candidate assessment and selection skills.
- Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter or similar sourcing platforms to identify and engage talent.
- Experience using applicant tracking and recruitment management systems, preferably Cornerstone Recruit.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage effectively with candidates, hiring managers and business leaders.
- Ability to analyse recruitment data and market insights to support hiring decisions and workforce planning.
- Demonstrates a proactive, customer-focused and continuous improvement mindset.
